An airport shuttle bus runs timed with flight arrivals to the city center (Qingjiang Hotel / Wanda Plaza / Sanxia Tourist Center), taking about 50 minutes and costing approximately ¥20–25. A taxi from the airport to the city center takes 40–60 minutes and costs around ¥80–100.

Summer (June–October) is best avoided for comfort-seekers: the plum rain season peaks in June and July, delivering relentless downpours that can disrupt transportation, and temperatures can spike past 40°C. That said, summer is the only time to witness the dramatic flood discharge at the Three Gorges Dam — a spectacle for the adventurous. School-holiday crowds peak in July–August at domestic attractions.

Winter (December–February) is cold, damp, and grey, with temperatures hovering near freezing. Cruise prices drop significantly in winter and the lower water levels expose taller cliff faces in the gorges — a compelling trade-off for budget travelers willing to layer up.
