01 · The lay of the land

A field guide to Zandvoort.

Famous seaside resort combining pristine beaches, the legendary Formula 1 circuit, and charming Dutch coastal life.

Zandvoort is one of the Netherlands' most popular seaside resorts, with a wide sandy beach on the North Sea just a short train ride from Amsterdam. Its long sandy beaches and coastal dunes attract tourists from all over the Netherlands and abroad during the warm summer months. Zandvoort is also the home of the country's most prominent racing circuit: Circuit Park Zandvoort. The most famous of these is Circuit Zandvoort, a motorsport racing track located in the dunes. Beach pavilions, surf schools and casual cafés give the area a relaxed, holiday atmosphere for day trips or longer stays. Zandvoort offers something unique every season: lively beach pavilions, water sports, wild nature and a charming town centre. The iconic circuit exudes speed and history, while the surrounding dunes offer peace and adventure.
