The gateway to Senggigi is Lombok International Airport (LOP), located approximately 29 miles (46 km) south of town. The DAMRI public bus runs a direct route from the airport to Senggigi every three hours daily; the journey takes around 1 hour 30 minutes and costs roughly $2–3 (IDR 38,500–40,000). A metered Blue Bird taxi or pre-arranged private car makes the trip in about 45–50 minutes and costs $20–30. Shuttle van services through accommodation providers are another cost-effective option at around $5. From Bali, daily fast boats call at Senggigi Pier, connecting to the Gili Islands en route; a slow public ferry also runs from Padangbai (Bali) to Lembar port, from which you'll need onward transport to Senggigi.

Senggigi's main strip is walkable, but exploring beyond it requires wheels or a hire. Blue Bird Taxis use meters in Senggigi and are the most reliable metered option — book via the MyBluebird app or ask your hotel; short trips within Senggigi run around IDR 15,000–20,000, while a taxi to Mataram costs around IDR 60,000–65,000. Motorbike rental is the most popular and flexible choice, costing roughly IDR 60,000–80,000 per day ($4–5); an international driving permit is required. Ojek (motorbike taxis) are cheap for short hops, starting around IDR 5,000–10,000. Shuttle vans booked through your accommodation are typically the best-value option for the Senggigi–Mataram–Kuta corridor. The traditional horse-drawn cidomo cart is a charming local option for very short distances; negotiate the fare before boarding, with a short ride costing around IDR 10,000–20,000.

Senggigi is at its best during the dry season from May through September, when temperatures hover around 28–31°C, rainfall is minimal (August averages just 8.8 mm across a single rainy day), and up to 8.6 hours of daily sunshine make it ideal for beach life, snorkelling, and outdoor excursions. July and August are peak months, when the Gili Islands crossing from nearby Teluk Nara is calmest and snorkelling visibility can exceed 25 metres. The shoulder months of April, May, September, and October offer the sweet spot of pleasant weather with thinner crowds and softer accommodation rates. The wet season (November–March) brings humidity, heavier tropical downpours, and lush emerald scenery — waterfalls are at their fullest and the landscape is visually stunning, though some outdoor activities may be curtailed. Rain-season prices are noticeably lower and popular spots are rarely crowded, making it a viable budget option for flexible travellers.
