Ploiești is a city and county seat in Prahova County, Romania. Part of the historical vicinity of Muntenia, it's miles placed fifty six km 35 mi north of Bucharest. In the mid-19th century the Ploiești region have become one of the world's leading oil extraction and refinery sites. The Mehedințeanu brothers opened the world's first large refinery at Ploiești in 1856–1857. Today, it's a vibrant cultural destination with excellent museums and parks, offering direct access to the Prahova Valley alpine region.
