Springdale is the fourth-largest city in Arkansas and the working-town heart of Northwest Arkansas, nestled in the Ozark Mountains. It blends outdoor adventure — from mountain biking on Fitzgerald Mountain to paddling Beaver Lake — with a vibrant downtown cultural scene, murals, and a diverse culinary landscape. As part of the booming Northwest Arkansas corridor, Springdale sits minutes from Bentonville, Fayetteville, and Rogers, making it an ideal base for the entire region. Its strong community identity, rich Ozark heritage, and rapidly evolving arts district make it one of the most dynamic mid-sized cities in the American South.

The quick answers travelers want before they commit to flights, neighborhoods, and how long to stay.
The primary gateway to Springdale is Northwest Arkansas National Airport (XNA), which serves the Fayetteville/Springdale/Rogers region and handles approximately 8,000 passengers daily with around 60 daily flights. Major carriers including American Airlines, Delta, and United serve XNA with top connections to Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago O'Hare, and Denver. From XNA, Uber and Lyft both operate designated pick-up zones outside the terminal. Jim's Express Shuttle offers scheduled shared-ride service directly to Springdale (call 479-205-0011 or 866-535-0127). The Ozark Regional Transit Authority (479-756-5901), headquartered in Springdale at 2423 E. Robinson Avenue, operates a budget-friendly bus option into the city. By car, Springdale is easily reached via Interstate 49, which runs north-south through the Northwest Arkansas region.
A car is the most practical way to get around Springdale and explore the broader Northwest Arkansas region. Uber and Lyft are both active in the area. The Ozark Regional Transit Authority runs fixed-route bus service throughout the region. For cyclists and pedestrians, the Razorback Greenway is a 40-plus-mile paved multi-use trail that passes directly through downtown Springdale, connecting the city to Bentonville, Fayetteville, and other communities — making car-free travel between regional hubs viable. Downtown Springdale itself is walkable, with local shops, galleries, and restaurants accessible on foot.
Spring — particularly April and May — is the peak season for tourism in Springdale, with comfortable temperatures ranging from the mid-70s to mid-80s°F and a full calendar of outdoor events, NWA Naturals baseball (season runs April through Labor Day), and the annual Rodeo of the Ozarks. Fall (September–October) is equally appealing, with cooler, pleasant weather around 60°F and fewer crowds. Summer brings heat and humidity, with August highs regularly reaching the low-to-mid 90s°F, though evening events and shaded trail rides remain popular. Winter is cold — January lows can dip to around 29°F — but it's the lowest-cost time to visit and offers a quieter, local experience.
