The most popular budget option is the Traventuria shared shuttle, which departs from Sofia Airport Terminal 1 five times daily; tickets cost $14–$20 and the journey takes about 2h 30m. A private taxi from the airport runs around €80 for up to 4 passengers, while a private transfer with a specialist operator (e.g. Welcome Pickups) starts at ~€120 for two with gear. Driving is the fastest option at around 2 hours; car rental at the airport is significantly cheaper than in town.
